More Ideas For the Fruit Trees

Well it’s no secret that I love espaliered fruit trees.

Unfortunately, I don’t think anything like this will work on my property either. What a shame!
Maybe I’ll just have to plant a regular ol’ peach tree in a regular ol’ kind of spot. Nah, there’s got to be some exciting landscaping I can do with it!

Looking at these pictures, I was reminded of a tour I took of the Biltmore estate in N.C. Have you ever been there? I’ll bet you’d love it – besides the old house there are all kinds of formal gardens, terraced gardens, rose gardens, topeary gardens, vinyards and orchards, covered walkways… it is enourmous.

I’ve never been there but I really, really want to go! It’s on my list of places to see before I die. I also want to go to Monticello–I hear those gardens are amazing too!

Add the Mt. Vernon gardens to your list. There is a book on Amazon; my friend April bought it for me for my birthday! I haven’t been there either, but the pictures show some beautifully espaliered and cordonned fruit.

I have several espaliered apples and 2 espaliered pears.

I am also looking at adding more fruit trees to my garden and I want to thank you for these pictures; they are lovely and they give me some fun ideas! I have decided to put in two more fruit trees where previously I was thinking of putting climbing roses. I could eat the roses, too, to be sure, but I like fruit better. I am looking at putting in as many more trees as possible.

Ok, Mt Vernon too! It’s on my list! You really have espaliered fruit trees too??? Girl I would LOVE to see pictures! Off to check out your website!

I took some more pictures of my espliered apples. I will post them on my site asap. I got interrupted by some surprise canning; someone brought me some apples that were going bad and I am making sauce. Oh, and I just finished getting all the pomegranate seeds out from the pomegranates I gleaned.

Off to bed; I’m done canning for the night!

Oh, and I decided to espalier more trees, too. Hopefully they take the grafts in the spring.
